(Last Update: 03.09.2024) Dividing Paris in half Seine RiverThere are three islands in the center of Paris, two of which are next to each other. Someone Île de la Cité – Cité IslandApart from these islands, the other one being Île Saint-Louis – Saint Louis Island. Île aux Cygnes there is; Even if we go outside the tourist center Île de la Jatte – Jatte IslandThere are also islands such as Île de Puteaux; I will try to write them all in time.
In fact, we can all understand the location of Cité Island very clearly, because Notre Dame Cathedral ve Holy Chapel It is located on this island. Saint Louis Island – Île Saint-Louis (il you lui) whereas Our LadyIt is a tiny island located right behind , and since many people do not notice this island, they do not include it in their travel itineraries unless they pass by that side by accident. However, this island is one of the most beautiful corners of Paris and you should definitely visit it. Notre Dame CathedralIt should be included in the program of the day you plan to visit. That's why A Week in Paris Part of my book also takes place here...
Notre Dame CathedralWhen you continue on the left side of the street, you will reach a bridge. This bridge is closed to vehicle traffic and generally street performers It is possible. Sometimes you may have the chance to watch magic shows, sometimes pantomimes, sometimes acrobatics, and sometimes you can go to the Saint Louis Island side with a wonderful music concert. Therefore, as soon as you move to this island, you will enter a different atmosphere. There are cafes and restaurants left and right in the small square that welcomes you. At this point, you can go down the stairs on the left to the river bank and enjoy both the spirit of the river and the view under the shade of the weeping willows. When you go up again and continue your tour by entering the small street in the middle, you can see the charming places again. restaurants, cafes, patisseries, ice cream parlors, creperie and different from each other boutiques, art galleries In other words, everything you need to make life beautiful will be lined up and waiting for you.
One of the most beautiful features of this island is that it is not just a touristic land, but a neighborhood used as a residence in the center of Paris. That's why you feel like you're in the heart of the city rather than feeling like you're in a touristic place. Therefore, while wandering around this region, do not forget to poke your head in through the opened doors, you will definitely encounter beautiful inner courtyards. Of course, you may not be able to enter all of them, after all, they are private property…
As you continue on your way, I guarantee that you can easily enter any boutique whose showcase you like and have a good time inside. Beautiful art galleries, small shops selling tasteful souvenirs, restaurants, houses, houses after houses... There is also a soap/scent store on the left side of the long, narrow street in the middle of Saint Louis Island. You will also enjoy going in there and breathing in the fresh air while looking at the pretty soaps and room and drawer scents.
One of the most famous ice cream parlors in Paris Berthillon'Fame (bertion) its main location is on this island. There will be a few more places on your way that sell Berthillon ice cream, but they are just shops that buy and sell this ice cream; royal Berthillon They have no official ties with. So do they taste the same? Well… BerthillonYou can understand its real location from the long queue in front of it. In this place where you can eat ice cream in summer and winter, my advice to you is to sit at the actual place and taste the ice cream there, rather than standing and going. The place is small and very cute, being in that place adds flavor as much as the ice cream you eat. I must admit that I wouldn't trade the ice cream from "Ali Usta" in Moda for any of them. But still, since we are in Paris, then we need to give local flavors a chance and we are sure to have an extremely enjoyable experience in terms of taste, service and presentation. For me, the most interesting thing about this ice cream shop is that it was closed for a month in the middle of summer due to holiday :) The guys literally closed the ice cream shop in the middle of summer and had a month's holiday; So don't be surprised if you find this place closed when you come in the summer heat :)
Also, the creperie on Saint Louis Island are very successful. You can enter and sit wherever you wish. Also, my favorite place is “La Charlotte de l'Isle”, which you will see on the left towards the end of the road. This cute cafe was actually much cuter before it changed hands, or rather, before it was restored. My favorite thing here was drinking lotus tea. Then they attempted to restore it and took away all its shabbiness, all its oldness, but also its aesthetics. I don't frequent it much now. As you can see, life in Paris does not remain the same, it changes over time; They just don't make you experience this change as clearly as in Istanbul, it happens with smooth transitions. Yes, what were we saying? In the past, my greatest pleasure was coming here to drink lotus tea and, if I was lucky enough to come across a pianist friend, to listen to a "couple" of recitals. It's beautiful now, but I really wish you could see it's old self.
There is a church across from Charlotte, I recommend you to enter there while passing by. After that, the activity ends and we come to the end of the island. If we cross the bridge and continue straight to the left BastilleWe reach . If we don't continue straight, turn a little left and dive into the streets opposite, we will get lost. Saint Paul, therefore Marais We can reach the side. on the road Arsenal PavilionIt would be nice if you could also stop by. And right away Seine River on the shore The NautesI recommend you to sit down and have a tired coffee. This coast is already a wonderful walking track; details Rives de Seine Park You can find it in the article. If instead of crossing the bridge, we turn to the right and cross the bridge there. Boulevard Saint GermainWe have reached the beginning of , which is a different world...
Also, walking around Saint Louis Island is actually enjoyable. You feel like you are not in Paris but somewhere else, especially what I saw while walking on the south side. AmsterdamIt reminds me of . People want to have a home here too. One wants to have a house all over Paris, anyway...
There are many options for coming to Saint Louis Island but my favorite is Notre Dame Cathedral I love coming over. For this of the metro M4 You can get off at the "Cité" station on the line, and as I said, you can choose a route for yourself by walking behind Notre Dame. . Or M7 If we come by metro and get off at the "Pont Marie" station, it is also possible to cross the bridge and reach the island directly.
Pleasant trips, pleasant discoveries.

After Amsterdam this week, we decided to stay in Paris for 3 nights. Now that I discover your articles, I wonder if we made a mistake :) It will be an 11-day holiday, from there we will continue to Brussels... But as you said, Paris will wait for us until the next visit, right? :)
By the way, I like Amsterdam more than Paris :) You haven't done anything bad at all, we have to give Amsterdam its due. Of course, three nights are not enough to visit Paris, but life is long, there are many days, you can come and visit again. Paris is not a city to visit once, even I couldn't finish it all this time :)
