(Last Update: 27.01.2025) "The Grand Palacemeaning " Grand Palais'i (Gran Pale or Ggan Pale) I remember when I first saw it, I thought, "What beautiful places these men once lived in." I was amazed by the magnificence of the building and its majestic rise right in the middle of the city, and I was very impressed by its giant steel-glass roof form as well as its exterior.

However, later on, this building In 1900 When I learned that it was built as an "exhibition and fair area", my admiration naturally increased threefold. In other words, this is a magnificent building designed as an "exhibition palace", not a royal palace.

When we look at old photographs, we see the fairs that were held here in the past. Especially when you look at the photos of automotive and aviation fairs, we need to sit down and think about what the French were dealing with a hundred years ago.

Champs-Elysees'also, Triumphal archfrom Concorde SquareAs you walk towards , on the right side, you will see this building, which will attract your attention with its already magnificent side façade and magnificent statues on the roof, and you will see that the most magnificent part of it is approximately 240 meter front façade You will notice that it is.

In this building with Baroque and Classical architectural styles, exhibitions with very different concepts are held at regular intervals every year. Grand Palais, where an average of 40 exhibitions are held annually An average of 2 million visitors per year traveling. If you have time, I recommend you visit current exhibitions that interest you. Being in this building as much as the works on display, 6.000 tons It is a place worth visiting just to see its magnificent glass and steel construction roof.

A program I watched recently was introducing the Grand Palais. It was said that this place was originally designed as a fairground, but when it could no longer meet the needs, it remained empty for a while, and even father of reinforced concrete Le Corbusier, who is considered to be contemporary They mentioned that it was a project to transform it into a reinforced concrete structure. In fact, when I saw the models of that project, my eyes jumped out of their sockets. Fortunately, the project was abandoned at the last minute and the Grand Palais was preserved in its original form and survived to the present day...

However, apart from the purpose of such a giant building, it is a matter of debate whether it is the right address for art fairs that can be exhibited in smaller areas. Well, there is nothing to be said in terms of magnificence, but the operating and preservation costs of this large structure are not negligible.

I have a small question: I couldn't figure out the difference between 'simple entree' and 'liberte', which creates a price difference between tickets at Grant Palais... Liberte is more expensive, can we see other parts of the building with that ticket?

According to their website, Simple Entrée is a ticket with a specific date and time and allows entry only on the date/time you specify. Liberté, on the other hand, offers entry (single entry, of course) whenever you want, on all dates the exhibition is open.
