(Last Update: 28.01.2025) In this article, I would like to introduce you to a wonderful place that I heard about when I first settled in Paris, but discovered too late because I postponed going for a long time for some reason. As I constantly see the photo above in magazines and sites promoting places to visit and see in France, I say, "Okay, it's beautiful, but it's only by the sea." a hollow rock Is it necessary to travel that far to see it? Etretat, which I always postponed my visit to, is just like me. a place consisting of a hollow rock by the sea I am writing this article so that you do not think :) Because Etretat is much more than what you see, a very beautiful coastal town…

I've been here twice so far, the last one in June 2018. Our first visit was at the end of March 2017, when we were sitting at home one weekend and the weather was very nice, we suddenly hit the road. Deauville & TrouvilleThe series of events that started when we went to see , ended the night Honfleur We decided to spend it nearby and the next day Honfleur and Etretat, and ultimately became an unforgettable holiday. Now I want you to see these options, Places to visit around Paris Create beautiful plans for yourself by choosing the ones you like.

Normandy Regionin, the English Channel on the coast, 200 kilometers northwest of Paris Take your private vehicle to this small but very beautiful coastal town. You can reach it from Paris in approximately 2,5 hours.. toll highway unnecessarily expensive Therefore, if you have time, I recommend you to choose the state highway or village roads; for then many heavens will see the corner a dream journey you are doing it. Of course, this way the road becomes quite long. Going on the toll highway is much easier, but really expensive. Paris-Honfleur You pass through a few toll booths in between, so I don't remember exactly how much money we paid in total, but it's about a round trip. € 30 - € 40 I can say that a highway toll between

Although here tno colorda da It is possible to reach Etretat by bus But I've never been to this fishing town by bus, so I don't know much about it. If you go by car, you will be much freer. Maybe Driving in Paris It is torture, but walking around Paris, especially going to places like this, can be enjoyable. This tiny town Paid parking is available on all streets, and every day of the week :) The vending machines barely work, it's a bit difficult to buy a ticket, so you need to buy your parking ticket. Via PayByPhone mobile phone application I recommend you to buy it.

On our first visit here, after parking our car in front of Etretat Municipality, right in the center, we started walking into the town, and that's when we first realized that this place was much more than those cliffs. At first, people automatically head towards the beach; He follows the smell of iodine and the cries of seagulls. When we reach the shore, we see approximately That famous cliff that I've been dreaming of seeing for five years output; eh of course hand forced, we posed and took our photo :)

While I was waiting for a deserted place in the mountains, I was both very happy and surprised to discover such a beautiful town. I don't understand why they only share that cliff as the Etretat photo. When one looks at the photo, one thinks that this is a deserted place, there is nothing to do around, but it is not so. Especially the If you go on a weekend in nice weather How crowded, how lively, but don't be intimidated, it's a peaceful crowd; At least because I'm a lucky person, our crowd has always been like that :)

Etretat's sea Deauville & Trouvillefrom, Honfleurfrom, Saint Malo'from, The Mont Saint Michelfrom, as it were, Normandy Landingwas made Omaha BeachI loved much more than because Eyebrow'of, ShieldIt reminded me of the beaches of . Since it is pebbles rather than sand, it is a clearer, turquoise-tinged blue. We said, "We should come here in the summer as well," but the next time we went was in the summer, when we saw that the sea was cold again, we said "We should come here in the summer as well" and laughed among ourselves :) Okay, the sea is the sea; Maybe one Mykonos, one Martinique but not like Paris Plages – Paris BeachesIt's better than 🙂 If you want to have a seaside holiday in France you to the south, French Riviera – Côte d'Azur Let's take it to the shores 😉

Located on a plain between two rocky hills, Etretat has the famous cliff on its left, and a church on a hill on its right, and people climb the hills on both sides. This reminds me of Mecca Safa ve Merve It reminds me a little of the hills :) Those who come to visit the town go up and down this hill as if it were a ritual. We didn't dare climb both of them, but we decided to at least walk up the hill on the left, in the direction of the cliff, and we started climbing the ramp little by little and sometimes climbing the stairs.

Already Normandy beaches You know an important region in this regard. Maybe one day, Normandy LandingI also write about Omaha Beach, which is the actual place where 'was made' and which I have been to twice so far. I don't like to compare the places I've visited with places in Turkey, but to give you an idea, Garipce VillageThe preservation of the historical texture of this small village, which I can compare to, as well as all the details to make life more beautiful, are heart-warming. You picture a Garipçe, an Etretat. You say, "What a strangely magnificent place it could be, but, alas..." These are the thoughts that cross one's mind as we climb uphill, with the sea on our right and the golf course on our left.

You're going right up, what's that? Apparently There was another giant cliff in the bay behind the hill. So, it turns out that the giant cliff you see in the cover photo of this article is not the first cliff we saw on the beach. We almost didn't get to the top and couldn't see this beauty... I mean, When you come to Etretat, make sure to go up the hill on the left. and while enjoying the view from above Do not return without seeing the second cliff, the largest one.… There is a magnificent view from above and it is very enjoyable to explore the places carved into the rocks.

If you cannot slow down, you can continue walking forward with the feeling of flying like a bird along the shore from the hill. Afterwards, the fresh air will make you hungry and you will be in a rush to eat :) The joy I call rush; Well, it will be a sunny place, it will be a pleasant restaurant, there will be a nice table and it will be empty. This is the kind of troubles people have, bon appetit :)

We are the same hurriedly go down, French name Old Market (Vio marche or Vio magşe) right across from the old market place Tavern des Deux Augustins We found a table exactly as we wanted, in front of a wonderful restaurant called. Dseafood plate and we said. My meat wasn't bad, the seafood was delicious, and I'm a liar to those who said that 😉

I definitely recommend you to go inside this place I call Vieux Marché. It's a small but delightful place, entirely made of wood. This is a closed market place Deauvillefish market in HonfleurIt reminded me of the church in . Typical after all Normandy architecture... There are plenty of souvenirs inside. Now choose, like and get the beautiful memory you want from here.

While walking on the streets full of colorful shops, one gets confused where to look. So much so that we even came across a responsible antique dealer. Naturally, we thought about how one could make money in such a beautiful antique store in this small town, but here people are living an extremely quiet life in the richest way. Well, since they haven't closed the shop, they are making very good money. What lives, what lives...

As we wandered through the back streets, the brick-covered buildings reminded us of the wooden toys we played with as children. I don't know if you have been to those times, but you know, there were wooden columns, windows and roofs made of wood in different colors and patterns. You would put them on top of each other and make a building facade; In Etretat, or rather NormandyWe always remembered those toys while wandering around. It seemed to us that these sides generally bore traces of Belgium and England.

Now until here we have always written it as Etretat, I don't know how you read it, but actually It is written as Étretat and means “etrota” or even to exaggerate a little “etgtaIt is read as 🙂 The diacritical mark on the E is a bit ambiguous. Actually, it needs to be added, but I haven't fully figured out whether or not accents should be used in capital letters :) It is said that the language institution has removed this accent, but when it does, there is a risk that the initial E will be read as "ö". To be sure, I looked at Etretat's official tourism page, and when I saw that it was written Etretat there, I decided to use it that way. It's complicated Fransızca : )

If you are not going to swim in Etretat, it is a place that can be spent in half a day, but you can also spend a full day if you wish. We after half a day HonfleurAs we were heading towards , we wanted to take a different route. As we were leaving the town, on the road opposite the municipality, there was a sudden turn on the left. Le Clos Lupine We saw something like this and realized that our Arsen Lupen What we say is actually Arsène Lupin, character in Maurice Leblanc's novelThis was the vineyard house dedicated to . Maurice Leblanc's house museum can be visited, but since we were very close to closing time and HonfleurWhen we had to see and then return to Paris, we left this place for another time. On our second visit, it was very crowded, we couldn't move quickly, so we didn't have enough time and couldn't visit again :) You can find detailed information about Le Clos Lupin. at this link you can see. Oh and on the hill on the right Jardin d”Etretat – Etretat Gardens There is a wonderful park called; I couldn't visit there either, but until I go to Etretat again and visit these places, it would be nice if you accidentally visit it before me and share your comments with us 😉

We come and go from these beautiful towns on day trips, but as I always say, people live a lifetime here. When I saw this place, like everywhere else in France, I sighed and said, "I would like to live here for a while", but there are so many beautiful places in France that one wonders which one to live in :) We come and go from cities and towns, dream and then forget. However, the lives of the people there continue as they are. Everyone has twenty-four hours and we think we only know people as we come across them...

IS THERE ANY BUS TRANSPORTATION FROM THE AIRPORT TO THESE COAST TOWNS OR WILL WE HAVE ANY TROUBLES?

    • Hello.
Buses leave from various points in Paris; There are buses from the airport to places, but of course I don't know by heart, there are buses from where to where, on which day, at what time. You need to research these one by one on the internet. I think a trip to Deuville & Trouville + Etretat would be great, but I don't know if there is a bus from Deauville to Etretat, I have never gone by bus or train; I didn't look online. Another option could be a trip to Rouen + Deauville & Trouville. But as I said, you need to research and schedule your bus/train days and times one by one according to your arrival time in Paris; Unfortunately, this is a subject beyond my control.
      Happy Days
